In 2010, One51 took a controlling interest in Island Renewable Energy Ltd, a wind farm development company focused on the British Isles, Iberian Peninsula and South East Europe.
By forming strong local partnerships in its targeted geographies, the experienced Island Renewable Energy team aims to develop high-quality onshore wind and solar projects to the long-term benefit of all stakeholders. The company is managed from its Dublin office with a regional office in Sofia.
Island Renewable Energy has assembled a highly qualified group of renewable energy professionals headed by Michael King. Prior to becoming CEO of Island Renewable Energy, Michael spent 9 years as a Director and Chief Operating Officer of NTR plc where he helped grow Airtricity into a large international developer and operator of wind assets.
Island Renewable Energy aims to capture and develop a significant wind portfolio in Europe over the coming years in three ways:
I. Greenfield: where Island Renewable Energy develops assets from the earliest stages through to site sourcing and wind measurement
II. Co-development: where developers partner with Island Renewable Energy to bring projects through the development cycle
III. Acquisition: where Island Renewable Energy acquires partly developed sites in order to progress the development to a recognised conclusion
